Our Express Package origins date back to 1964 when Jim Corkill started New Zealand Couriers with two courier vans and capital of $1000 pounds. This picture, known to Freightways as “The Morrie Men” is a reflection of our humble beginnings and spirit of entrepreneurship. As pictured, Associated Couriers was formed in 1967 to handle the North Island Databank contract. Shareholders were New Zealand Couriers Limited (Auckland) and Mercury Couriers Limited (Wellington). In 1969 New Zealand Couriers partnered with Mercury Couriers to become New Zealand’s first national courier services carrier.
